THE OVERSEAS MARKET TAKING AUSTRALIA BY STORM

ZARA – Europe’s fastest growing apparel retailer.

Zara is a Spanish clothing and accessories retailer, one of the largest international fashion companies. It belongs to Intidex one of the world’s largest distribution groups. First store opened in 1975, Its first store featured low-priced lookalike products of popular, higher-end clothing fashions. The store proved to be a success, and Ortega began opening more Zara stores throughout Spain. During the 1980s, Ortega started changing the design, manufacturing, and distribution process to reduce lead times and react to new trends in a quicker way, in what he called "instant fashions". The company based its improvements in the use of information technologies and using groups of designers instead of individuals. In 1980 it began expansion to Portugal, increasing in the 1990s to Mexico, Belgium, Greece and to over 73 other countries. Today it has spread worldwide being a globally recognised brand.

Zara is a vertically integrated retailer. Unlike similar apparel retailers, Zara controls most of the steps on the supply-chain, designing, manufacturing, and distributing its products. Zara can offer considerably more products than similar companies. It produces about 11,000 distinct items annually compared with 2,000 to 4,000 items for its key competitors. The company can design a new product and have finished goods in its stores in four to five weeks; it can modify existing items in as little as two weeks. Shortening the product life cycle means greater success in meeting consumer preferences. On September 6, 2010,Financial Times Report, reported that Intidex launched the first online boutique for its best-selling brand Zara which began with just a few countries and quickly expanded. In 2011, Zara entered the Australian market with a three story, 1400sqm store in the Westfield Sydney complex opened on April 21, 2011 and a second three story 1800sqm store at Bourke st Mall Melbourne which opened on 15 June 2011 . This was a major step for Zara.

TOP SHOP

A larger British Multinational retailer which specialises in fashion clothing, shoes, make-up and accessories. It has around 440 shops across 33 countries and online operations in a number of its markets. The first stand-alone Topshop store was opened in 1974. In 1970, Topman was created as a spin-off brand to cater for male customers and is now run as a separate chain, Topshop's triumph has been all the more remarkable considering its humble beginnings. Topshop began in the basement of Peter Robinson department store in 1964 and less than a decade later became a stand-alone retailer. As an early pioneer of high street and designer collaborations, Topshop's partnerships with some of history's most iconic fashion names such as Celia Birtwell and Kate Moss, have further cemented the brand’s reputation as a fashion leader.

"IT'S FROM ASOS.COM"

Today, its one of the most used online stores worldwide!

"Bec, your top is so funky and different, wait let me guess...!"
"Yep you guessed right Ash, whats more funky than ASOS, were really becoming addicted haha!"

ASOS,'fashion finder' is the perfect online store for males and females. It is now the online store mentioned by all. It is the largest only-online store of the UK. It is extremely useful as it provides a extremely great range of clothing and outfits, provides today's looks, provides outfit of the week, most popular items and the shop highlights for males and female and the editors picks. With such categories that consequently provide effective evaluations by the public and editors, they act as useful reviews and useful opinions used by current and potential buyers. Catering for a wide range of customers, it perfectly satisfies all their fashion desires, with refreshing, funky, fresh and modern attire, for everyday wear and formal evening wear. Additionally, the cheap and affordable prices in my opinion, attract a even greater market.

I believe its an significantly useful website because not only can you purchase stock online, but if you have a deep love for fashion and love putting outfits together, you're able to "upload a look". All website viewers can view the outfit you create and actually purchase the items from the site. In my opinion, i believe this is a very innovative strategy to always keep the customers fully satisfied and attracted to your products, as they literally have a say. Unlike other retail stores such as the elite brand Chanel or as simple as Supre' their loyal customers, can't provide their input on various outfits, however with this innovative website you can easily upload a look and have your say heard by all ! I think this component of the website is a key component that allows it to dominant the market of its kind.

SHOP ONLINE FOR CONVIENCE!

SHOP ONLINE! WHY NOT?

Shopping online has become a major phenomenon worldwide! Why not shop online when it can be done in the click of a button rather than going into the shops and waiting in line for change rooms?
An extremely popular online shopping site is boohoo.com.  This site has recently emerged online with a great range of men and women’s clothing, footwear and accessories.

With clothing from jeans, tops, skirts, shorts, jackets, dresses and even nightwear for women starting from as low as $3.00 for clearance items.  What a bargain!  This website is international although shipping is free to Australia and New Zealand.  This website caters to different sizes and shapes and allows the consumer to choose colours, styles and prices at the click of a button! Also the feature of the ‘Cat Walk’ is the view of the clothing item down a runway, which gives great access of the real extent to what the dress looks like.

There special features such as the save button or popular items are great additions to the site that allow the customer to decipher which items are of good value or ones which they are unsure about to save for a later time.  With a separate section for trends, customers are able to see the new spring, summer or winter trends and pick their clothes from there.

Boohoo differs from other online websites such as Myer which is soley based in Australia.  This website allows for a variety of products which are sold in Myer to be sold online.  This differs from boohoo as it includes toys, electronics, beauty, and home wears products for all ages.  It allows viewers to refine their searches depending on what they want including price, colours and types of designs.  This is a great reason to shop online rather than in the shop as there it is a lot more convenient! However, although not all the products in store are on line, there is still a great range which views can pick from.  Go to myer.com.au for more!

UNIVERSAL ICON : CHANEL

There are only a few people in the world who don't recognize the name Chanel. Chanel is one of the highest fashion labels to date, established in  1909 in France. Not only is it full of great fashion designs ranging form everyday wear to fancy "haute couture", as shown in a previous blog where it fit like a glove on Blake Lively, it include fragrances including the notorious perfume No. 5 de Chanel, beautiful makeup and  jewellry. Check out their elite website, http://www.chanel.com/

In my opinion, the fashion designer who founded the label, took a risk. She established sleek, classy and simple attire as opposed to the over-clustered and designed trends of the 19th century. Her entrepreneurship was that of great loss, however its simple and elite styles, attracted many young and older women to becoming extremely loyal customers. Chanel is  famous its "little black dress", as shown on the left by the iconic photo of the Chanel Girl.

Aside from the effortlessly beautiful attire, a beautiful range of make-up is offered in Chanel retail stores. In my opinion, the colours are beautiful and various shades of pink are available for a range of various female customers, as shown in the image below. The colours are beautiful, ranging from soft pastel colours for during the day, to striking dark and bright colours for dinner party's and events.

The iconic item of Chanel is the classy perfume "Chanel No.5". Honestly, the perfume is more designed for the older generation. It doesn't really give a young and sexy feeling to young women, rather a more musky smell for more of a simple classy older woman. Younger women would rather enjoy the beautiful and fresh scents of "Coco Mademoiselle", and would rather wear Chanel No.5 to bed (as Marilyn Monroe did LOL).

FASHION ICON: PRINCESS KATE!

KATE MIDDLETON

The newly crowned Princess Catherine Elizabeth “Kate” Middleton born 9th January 1982 married to Prince William of Wales is seen world wide as a fashion icon!  Due to the intense media attention she gains and after the wedding of the century on 29th April 2011 as the world watched her step out in her amazing Alexander McQueen dress she quickly became highly watched on her fashion choices.  The dress was a long sleeved, full skirt ivory colour which was made to look like an opening flower.  Her veil was held in by a halo tiara designed by Cartier.

She is listed on many of the best dressed lists such as People Magazine.  Due to her many special occasions the media are always looking for her many different looks.  Especially the recent Diamond Jubilee river pageant, Kate wore a bold red Alexander McQueen dress which was worn late last year by Kim Kardashian in a sleeveless design, however was modified in order to dress a royal.

Although Princess Catherine was not always seen in the media as a fashion icon until her engagement to Prince William, she then emerged quickly.  Another look which became loved by many was her Temperley gown at the War Horse film premiere.  The floor length black lace was a bold choice, with the scalloped neckline and nude underlay giving the impression of flesh.

Kate is well known for loving her coat dresses, her many different designs are always a crowd favourite!  Whether they are to weddings, memorials or even to visit schools her trendy look is still glamorous whilst staying sophisticated

Who could forget the highly talked about engagement dress Kate wore by a Brazilian designer Dianiella Issa Helayel.  The royal blue silk jersey wrap dress was a hit with the public.  With the sleeved, demure flared skirt just above the knee it is just right for any body shape!

As the dress sold out within hours in London, people can still place their orders on  net-a-porter.com or there are many imitation dresses just to look like Kate, for example Neiman Marcus selling his design of the dress online for only a fifth of the price! Go to http://www.lastcall.com/store/catalog/prod.jhtml?itemId=prod491238&eItemId=prod491238&cmCat=search&searchType=SEARCH&parentId=&icid=&rte=%252Fsearch.jhtml%253FN%253D0%2526Ntt%253Dwrap-belt%2526_requestid%253D8530 to check it out!

To finish off we have seen Kate for many years, her emergence onto the fashion scene is something to look up to with her style and grace, all females can love and admire her look!
